Secrets to my way of eating!
Always Pray first! God can change your perspective (your mindset). Set your thoughts on things above and he will work the rest!
The following tips have worked for me over the past few years. In 2012, I was almost at 190 and today I am at 133 and feeling healthy!
Be selective on what you choose to eat! My thought is "will this nourish my body or take from it?"
Eat foods that increase your metabolism like sweet potatoes, blueberries, cinnamon, etc.
Eat the bulk of your food in the morning through midday. You will find that you are no longer hungry the rest of the day. It also curbs binges and cravings.
Fix your plate so it looks pretty! Always make sure there's a fresh herb on your plate. Color, texture and flavor satisfies your brain...that's why I take pictures of my food! It's art!
If you don't really like it just don't eat it! Literally ask yourself "do I really like it?" If no, don't eat it!
Weigh yourself every day! Yes....do it!
Stay away from processed foods, boxed foods, canned soups anything with lots of salt, or a label.
Make everything from scratch if possible (use pinterest!) it has anything you would ever want)
Drink water a lot! I always have a big glass/bottle of water available. I did give up soda...it doesn't nourish my body.
Eat it if you really like it, otherwise just pass
Put "clean" foods in your body
Don't go into any meal hungry!!!
Always have brown rice or quinoa ready in the frig
Oatmeal in freezer ready to eat
If you are hungry, eat a meal. For example: it's 11:00am and you have a snack...NO...eat your lunch! Eat small meals throughout the day!
Cook with Olive Oil whenever possible (experimenting with coconut oil)
Eat Avacados!
Drink hot tea with a little ginger snap mid morning! ( I drink Good Earth "Sweet and Spicy" Lots of cinnamon in it!
If you want butter, use the real thing! I don't use anything that says diet/fat free/sugar free/sugar substitute in anything! I don't care what it is!
Have a handful of blueberries (I usually have them in the freezer handy) in the morning!
Have a consistent bedtime! Stabilize your sleeping pattern. Your body adjusts better during the day.
Drink lots and lots of water (oh yeah, I did mention that earlier, but very important!)
I always start off my day with 2 cups of coffee with fat free vanilla creamer. (Okay, one exception to the rule, just can't give that up!)
When it comes to crackers! (which I love), I only eat the ones that have 3.5 g. of fat or less!
I also drink one glass of wine either before supper or during supper! Then, lots of water throughout the evening. If it is a special night out or whatever, I will have more than one glass, but after a while, you sort of weigh it out, to see if it's worth it?
I love trying new recipes and experimenting with new foods! I love trying new spices, cooking with wine and herbs!
Love love love Balsamic Vinegars (especially on green salads with specialty olive oils) always with freshly grated parmesan cheese! or Feta!
