Foods that I like and eat on a regular basis
Sweet potatoes
Blueberries
Greens (real leafy lettuce, kale, spinach, swiss chard)
Olive Oil (almost exclusively)
Balsamic Vinegars
Brown Rice
Quinoa
Beans (of all kinds, especially black beans)
Pasta (not crazy about the wheat pasta, I like some brown rice pasta from Trader Joes, otherwise the protein packed ones from Barilla)
Whole grain breads (we like to experiment with different breads. Actually Kwik Trip has a whole grain mini loaf (sits on top of the fresh vegetables) that is good in a pinch!
Whole grain crackers (under 3.5 g of fat)
Chicken
Pork
Fish
Chinese food (all of it!) Made from scratch, no packages unless its from Trader Joe's frozen dept. or whole foods. No weird ingredients added)
Soups of all kinds (homemade) Can't go wrong!
I buy the Creamy Tomato Soup (organic) from Trader Joe's and have that almost everyday for lunch, with some specialty cheese and crackers. It comes in a box with a pour spout. Easy to pour out exactly what you want.
Specialty cheese: if you are going to eat cheese, eat the real thing. Make sure it has good flavor and worth the calories. No imitation cheese, etc) Feta is my favorite on salads and eggs!
Beef: once in a while! If has to be worth it, so make something really tasty!
Oatmeal: If you need something quick, I buy the Schwan's frozen oatmeal with flax and quinoa. It's delicious!
Eggs: I eat eggs a lot! Especially my freshly laid eggs by my organic fed chickens! I am satisfies with one beautiful over easy egg on a piece of toast. Sometimes I chop up parsley and sprinkle it over the egg with crumbled feta! Love love love!
Hard boiled eggs for a snack!
